Hi, as i said in my last review i took my 5th kyu purple belt grading last friday 25th sept and guess what i passed yes but to make things even better i was awarded a trophy for outstanding attendance, this i not just down to all the hard work and time i have put in training but to everyone at the club from Sensei Glyn Roberts 4th Dan and the rest of the instruction team to all the students thank you all. We have a great mix of people at our club Mums, Dads, Sons and Daughters, we all train together in a great family atmosphere, Aaliyah Meredith.

A club for all reasons?

I started training at this dojo because my son (6 at the time) wanted to learn Karate. Rather than sit around watching, I decided to join in with him to get fit. It is much more fun to share the experience rather than have a one-sided conversation on an activity. Seven years later, I am a first Dan black belt, plus I feel fitter than I have ever been. I am much fitter overall than when I did circuit training.

Sensei Glyn’s club is a family club so all ages and grades train together, making it ideal for families. Being a family club, there is no waiting around for other age/grade related lessons.

Sensei Glyn is a 4th Dan in the KUGB. He regularly trains in Liverpool with Sensei Andy Sherry, 10th Dan and head of the KUGB (largest karate organisation in the UK). This means that the teaching you receive is of the highest standard and quality. Sensei Andy Sherry comes to adjudicate all gradings (to move up belts) at the club. He does this to maintain the standards within the KUGB. This means gradings are hard, but you know your belt is a real achievement, and not just a case of doing the time. The standards for grading apply to everyone, from the white belts to Sensei Glyn!

To sum up: this is either an excellent club to get fit with family and friends, and as a bonus, learn effective self-defence techniques; or an excellent club to learn Shotokan Karate to the highest standard.

It fits both categories for me.

I have been studying karate for around 7 yrs and was originally there because my daughter wanted to join. I was just there as a spectator. After seeing the high level of teaching and the passion for karate coming out of the students and teachers, It was infectious. The following week I joined and have never looked back. I am now a 1st dan black belt and thank the club for giving me the confidence and ability to succeeded. Thankyou oss.

I started training at this club as a white belt beginner in October 2012 i have now progressed to 6th kyu green belt and hoping to pass my 5th kyu purple belt this month. I have achieved this because of the excellent instruction from the club instructors, i really look forward to my training because all concerned with the club are very nice and helpful so why not come and join us, Aaliyah aged 10.

I've trained in Shotokan for the last 8 years at the Budo Ka Red Dragon Club, progressing from yellow belt to 1st Dan black belt. The club is a fantastic place to learn karate, with first rate instruction in a friendly and supportive environment. If anyone is interested in learning martial arts, whether for self defence or just to keep fit I couldn't recommend this club highly enough.
