Dedicated BJJ academy

If BJJ is your game, this is simply the best place to train in Southampton. Yes, you can go elsewhere and receive instruction from a higher grade instructor, but nowhere else offers this many classes. You could train up to 8 times a week in the gi here, and if there's a sure fire way to progress it's the ability to train as often as you can. Adam and the students seem to be very welcoming, so far I've not noticed any egos, just genuine friendliness and a willingness to help.

To be honest if your in that area your better off travelling to de souzas dojo in bournemouth or over to colin howell at gym01 far higher level of instruction.

I do not believe you will find a better place to train. The Instruction is excellent, from both the boss and the assistant instructors. The facilities are great and so is the vibe on the mats. Never have i had the honour to train with such a great bunch. The attitude is warm and welcoming while being focused and determined. The team and the way they help each other to learn is second to none. If you want to compete, workout or learn self defence i could not recommend it more. Top notch!

Ive trained at Silverback for about a year and what i love about it is its friendly atmosphere and how everyone is willing to help everyone improve their game. No student walks around with an ego.

Adam genuinely cares for his students and wishes for them to progress whether they are looking to compete, or they want to train for the love of training. He is always approachable and in my opinion treats us like family.

You obviously have a lot to say. Perhaps you should be a man and say who you are. Any coward can hide behind their keyboard. Obviously you are just trying to cause an issue but the bottom line is everyone knows the truth and our results are almost impeccable. Thanks

Please disregard the last comment. Silverback Submissions is the most successful Submission Wrestling team in Southampton by a long long way. We have British and European champions. This is something that can not be said of any other team in the city. There are a lot of jealous people out there that know they can not compete with us. Our door is always open for people to come on down and see what we are all about.

Silverback Submissions is a great place to train. I am not one of the so called fighters, I don't compete or get involved with MMA at all but I have never been neglected in a session. I have trained at many Local Jiu Jitsu clubs locally including Exile and I just found the way Adam teaches as preferable. I have no bad word to say about the lads at exile I just found that the quality of training partners and in depth training to be more to my taste at Silverbacks...

I will enjoy training at Silverbbacks until I am next deployed to sea. Until then it's full steam ahead.

A great gym to learn BJJ for the seasoned martial artist or a new guy looking to see what its all about! The best thing about Silverbacks is the family atmosphere, if you want to train hard you can but you can also have a gentle spar. I would encourage anyone to come down, you wont be disappointed!

The people who made the previous reviews have obviously been encouraged to do so by adam. This gym is very average and the teaching can allow a lot of people on the mats to feel left out. Adam the instructor only concentrates on a few of his golden boys but despite this most of his best fighters have left to join gym01 or exile where they have better bjj instructors! Also they do not offer MMA this is a lie Wrestling,Judo,Boxing, K1,Catch Wrestling are not available here!

Friendly and professional instruction as well as state of the art facility. You step off the mats with the feeling of having learned something, and the eagerness of coming back to the next session to improve your game. The students are very friendly and cooperative; and will guide you through the dos and don'ts in your gradual progress. Definitely a great place to learn BJJ and MMA

I have been training with Adam Fieldhouse at Silverback Submissions for two years now and I can't believe how much I love it. Adam has a great way of passing on his wealth of knowledge and I believe we are very happy to have him as our instructor. Classes are always structured and I never leave without learning something. I can't wait until the next time I train :-)

I have done a couple of martial arts but found jiu-jitsu to be the most practical and fun martial art! Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good self defence or fitness! All the coaches and students make you feel very welcome!
