5 years in. Still enjoy every session!

I have been training at this club for 5 years. During my training I have improved my level of fitness, met lots of new people and made some great friends, been able to travel the country and train with others in the association, and been able to learn from a variety of sensei's. More importantly it has developed my confidence, not only because it is a self defence martial art, but it also allows me to push myself each week, and when I don't have the energy to push myself, the club pushes me further!

The location is excellent for anyone living either in or around Basingstoke and there are other clubs in the association nearby in Winchester, Thatcham and Newbury which means there is always a variety of people to train with.

As it is a non-profit organisation, and we pay only when we train, everyone is there because they want to be there. There is always great energy on the mat, and I would encourage you to give it a go. I had done no martial art before joining aiuchi jiu jitsu, so it is suitable for anyone with any level of experience or fitness.

Best value all round self defence and martial art.

I can honestly say that this club is one of the best all round martial arts clubs in the local area. It has an excellent balance between traditional martial arts and real world self defence. The instructors are top notch and are there because they want to be there and because they believe in what they do. As a not for profit club all the money goes back into paying for the club. This is ideal for those with busy schedules who cannot train every session compared with clubs that charge a monthly fee. I have made so many friends though the club as well as learning valuable skills and improving my fitness. First session is free. I would encourage people to give it a go and see how you get on.

From white to Black with a great club.

This club is welcoming and easy going. We train with intensity but always safely. I started 10 years ago and had limited experience in martial arts prior to starting at this club. I've had to take time out on a few occasions and always been welcomed back. They charge by the session so no paying when u can't turn up.

This club has taken me on the full journey from white belt up to Dan grade.

Thanks for reading, hope this helps make a decision to come and try it out! I'd highly recommend it.

Great Martial Arts training

A long established club operating as part of a well established association.

The quality of the training provided here is second to none, with the emphasis on fun, safety and then training.

The club is run by a team of experienced instructors, and works in coordination with other clubs in the area (Thatcham, Newbury, Winchester) as well as others around the country.

It has an established membership of home grown students of all grades, and has provided the instructors for the other local clubs from its own membership.

The club has a serious side to its training, teaching practical self-defence as well as the techniques required of the more formal grading structure. However there is an active social side to the club, which means that you have the opportunity to get to know the instructors and other club members.

If in doubt, turn up, take look (even better to give it a try) - you won't be disappointed.

Excellent, friendly classes with execptional instructors

The only reason I stopped going is because I moved out of the area. The instructors and pupils are very friendly and all the classes are taught to a very high standard. The association is very friendly too the national events showcase a lot of unique skills. I have met a lot of people that are still my friends despite moving out of the area.

The classes themselves are based on practical methods and cover a large number of techniques, from traditional jujitsu throwing and groundwork, through to striking and defences from weapons. As you progress through the grades, your confidence and responsibility definitely grows.

Suitable for all ages, body types and genders.
