Alloa Karate Club has a friendly atmosphere and is pleased to welcome anyone wishing to train, whether they are a novice or returning to training after a break. A flexible teaching style means that all levels of ability are catered for in each class. Traditional teaching routines are enhanced by modern equipment and newly developed methods to help members improve both their technique and fitness level. Members of the club have the opportunity to move through the belts regularly with a grading available every three months.
With over 30 years of history the club is one of the oldest in the country having produced Scottish, British and even European champions. The Club is currently tought by Martin McGookin, 4th dan, a former Scottish (JKA & JKS) champion, Irish Open (JKS) Champion and British (UKTKF) Champion.
The Club is part of JKS Scotland, which is currently the largest and most successful Shotokan Karate Federation in Scotland. This opens up access to top level instruction from some of the world’s most famous Sensei (both Japaneses and Western). For those interested in competition there are many competitions available, as well as a world class squad training program.
