BLACK STAR AIKIDO are proud of being an Independent Organisation allowing us the freedom to research and develop the roots and values of Traditional Aikido. We began our journey in 1991. We are still growing our membership and networking alongside many other Traditional Japanese Budo Systems.
We have a strong link with Kokoro Aikido in Manchester which is governed by Shihan Ian Watts.
We train hard in a friendly atmosphere allowing everyone the opportunity to train safely and learn at their own pace.
Aikido is a dynamic Japanese martial art with firm roots & philosophies from the days of the noble Samurai Warrior. Our syllabus consists of balance manipulation / joint locks / throws / nerve disruption and atemi that compliment the physical training alongside the mental and spiritual development to achieve peace.
We welcome the beginner to join us and become part of our growing family. We offer other Aikidoka from other groups the chance to train with us as guests & still remain with their chosen federations.
Our Instructors have taught throughout the U.K & Overseas for other Martial Art Associations. This provides students with many opportunities to travel and learn more about martial arts.
