BGJJC is an excellent club for new starters and seasoned students. I am a 6th dan Black belt from Derbyshire and I have trained many times with Sensei Andrew Shelden and his team and taught on his seminars. Andrew's as well as myself were both taught by Hanshi Allan Tattersall from Rochdale who's pedigree in Europe is second to non. If anybody wants to learn a style of Jujitsu that is effective at all levels, this is the place to learn.
Looks like great fun

This is a very good TRADITIONAL club with a lineage going back generations. The instructors are very well trained in what they are teaching. It is a good open minded place and the instructors are very receptive to any concerns one raises. I have 30 years experience of training in many martial disciplines and this club could hold it's own against any of others I have trained at. One can train as hard or was as one wants without pressure from fellow students or instructors. So whether you want serious training, fitness or just looking for something new then I'd recommend popping along to give it a try. Whether young, old, male or female it's all good.

Over twenty years experience makes Andrew and the club's Yudansha some of the most skilled Budoka in th UK. Most of that time training with Tattersall Hanshi in Myo Shin Ryu Jujutsu and MJER Iaido.
They are DNBK certified members who have trained with Japanese Sensei both in Europe and Japan.
I am proud to know this club and cannot recommend highly enough.

BGJJC is a wonderful place to learn. The instructor is very organised and opens up as many opportunities as possible to all of the students. The teaching provided is very high quality. I studied there from being six year old to 16 year old. In that time I received many awards which I treasure dearly, a lot of experience and knowledge I will carry with me throughout my life. After I received my black belt I no longer had the free time to continue my martial arts journey but if I were to Start back up Byers Green Jujitsu Club is the first place I'd go.
If serious about martial arts this is the place to be.

Been practising jujitsu at Byers green for almost a year. Was apprehensive about going as I've been to a few gyms and the atmosphere wasn't the best, however, I had nothing to worry about here. Everyone makes you feel welcome and are more than happy to help.
The sensei's there are brilliant, again more than happy to help. All have a lot of experience in other martial arts and all are friendly and approachable.
Classes are well run and organised, and very enjoyable. Definitely would recommend anyone to come along and try it.

This club is not a fly by night school and has been going well over 10 years, and is central to all
local areas we are between the village of Newfield and Binchester close to spennymoor, Bishop Auckland
Willington and meadowfield so is easy to get to., It is a relaxed atmosphere and easygoing attitude it has seminars every year and well worth a look.
My 14 yr old daughter and I have been training at Byers Green for a while now and ever since our first lesson we've been made to feel welcome. Sensei Andrew Sheldon is extremely knowledgeable and all the other students and instructors are helpful and friendly. They are accepting of all who come train whether they are male/female, older/younger, with varying levels of fitness and you aren't forced to do anything beyond your capabilities. However, if you want to train for more than fun and fitness then there is a wealth of knowledge and plenty of candidates willing to train with you. We always have fun at training and have learned so much. Byers Green is a family friendly club, that is hard working, fun and respectful both of its members and of the art of Jujitsu and its roots and heritage. We love it here and Jujitsu is an excellent sport for the younger generations to learn how to defend themselves should they ever need to whilst learning respect for others and discipline. I would highly recommend this club to all.
