Cheongye Kwan Institute
The Cheongye Kwan is a Martial Arts philosophy founded by Barry Cook in 2005 that has simple and direct movements using an intentionally non-classical style. Cheongye Kwan practitioners base their training on minimal movements with maximum effect and speed. The system works by using any technique that an individual finds effective in any given situation, whether kicking, punching, locking or grappling, then flowing effortlessly between them. The Cheongye Kwan is referred to as a Philosophy and not a style. Unlike classical/traditional Martial Arts, the Cheongye Kwan is not fixed or standardised.

Programs & Class Schedule
The Cheongye Kwan is a Martial Arts vehicle for practitioners to learn to be in a state of perpetual growth and evolution, whether spiritually, intellectually or physically, never settling or allowing something to dictate the maximum of their capacity for growth and expansion. The Martial Arts, like life, should always be a process of learning and maturing, finding what works best for them.
Your first lesson is free. We do not charge membership fees or joining fees, members simply pay an annual Martial Arts participation insurance fee and a monthly lesson fee. We also offer family discounts.
The Cheongye Kwan system offers a method of training that only teaches students using techniques and strategies that will compliment the individual student. We will never teach you choreography or drills that have to be committed to memory, our training develops reactive and responsive defence using only what works for you!
Ages start from 7 and classes run on Mondays from 7 pm till 8.30 pm.
