This is a brilliant place to start your aikido journey the instructor Barry is calm patient and very helpful. Focusing on the grass roots of aikido practice from the entering of technique to the very end. You will see your technique go from strength to strength while feeling very comfortable yet challenged to improve. Each session is structured very well with a good mix of pins and throws . There is also a good mix of grades meaning a newcomer doesn't feel intimidated .

The instructor knows his stuff and teaches you by example. When you have an instructor who actively works on their own technique and posture whilst teaching you about it, you feel less instructed and more as if you are training alongside them. Training in Harraton is calm and focused and there is always a black belt or two to train with and develop your technique!

The lesson normally starts with star jumps and warmup exercises, moves on to pins and gradually builds up to the throws (my favourite part, because it gets my blood running!), ending with a core exercise that really challenges you to NOT USE YOUR ARM STRENGTH!

Have recently started at this club. Have been made welcome with open arms have been made from my first visit apart of the group. I have been able to pick up the basic moves quite quickly due to having a good instructor that has a lot of time and patients with me and all the pupils in the class. Can say I’m am enjoying be part of the group and I am enjoy the challenge of getting fit as well as wanting to learn more of this martial art.
