Sensei Gary Hobbs is a highly experienced, very attentive and supportive coach. The club itself is very friendly and encourages everyone to do their best and improve. Kudo is an amazing martial art which combines so many elements into a truly well rounded fighting system. 10/10 would recommend.

This is a great place to learn Kudo. Gary really knows his stuff and goes into things in just the right amount of depth and makes sure everyone is at the same speed and level. He is patient and takes the time to coach properly, and make sure you are ready and prepared properly. Not just a sink or swim dojo. Highly recommend.

A professional and friendly academy that trains students in kudo. Gary, the coach provides in-depth knowledge on the individual styles that kudo is based on. The techniques and drills he shows merges both grappling and striking styles. Hertfordshire kudo academy is a great place to train for beginners or those looking to try something new.

Kudo is a Japanese hybrid martial art, it is extremely well rounded; consisting of stand up, throws, clinches and ground work/submissions. A great martial art for creating a well rounded fighter or to build confidence in yourself and your ability to defend yourself.
Gary is a brilliant instructor, he is patient and takes his time with his students whilst also maintaining traditional martial arts discipline. Top man and great coach!

I have over 20 years of martial arts experience and I can honestly say that if you are looking for a martial art that gives you a complete well rounded fight or self defence game then kudo is for you. However, the martial art is only as good as the instructor teaching it and Gary has to be hands down the most influential instructor I have ever had. There is no technique that is just thrown in there for the sake of having a technique. All the techniques are designed to work and flow to the next if the previous technique doesn’t quite work. The flow from standing and striking to takes downs and then to submissions is second to known. I come out of every session feeling like I have improved both physically and technically and that is down to the in depth knowledge taught as well as the friendly environment and welcoming students. I cannot say enough how much you should give kudo a go especially with Gary as your instructor.

Excellent training in terms of jacket wrestling, striking and ground grappling. Lessons have no wasted time, almost everything is about techniques. Emphasis on smart live training as opposed to just heavy sparring gym wars. Lots of drilling from different positions and tactics both in the feet and on the ground.

This place is a hidden gem in Baldock! Gary is an amazing instructor, he really delves into the details of the individuals techniques with great patience. Very welcoming atmosphere. We'll equipped dojo. A must try for anyone interested in martial arts. Kudo is a unique Japanese hybrid martial arts different to MMA, perfect for anyone looking for a fine balance between traditional Japanese culture and combat heavy practice.
Hertfordshire kudo academy is a great place to train, doesn’t matter if you’re a novice or practiced martial artist. Gary is a great instructor and runs a fun, friendly but challenging and progressive club. Classes are always well planned covering all aspects of Kudo. I love training there and the only problem I have is, I can’t train as often as I’d like and seeings as there’s three classes a week that’s just down to my busy schedule.
