Hi, my name is Nathaniel Peat 6th Dan Master of YKKF Guju Ryu and I'm the owner of Ikigai Dojo. When I was a child, I began my martial arts journey and the positive impact it had on my life was remarkable. It was always my dream to someday own my own school in London and wanted to set up a purposeful dojo to inspire and motivate young people and adults to reach their full potential using martial arts as a vehicle of self improvement. Our Dojo is owned and run by Shihan Nathaniel Peat 6th Dan Kyoshi Master YKKF Goju Ryu with direct linage to Kanyro Higoana Sensei, the inventor of Karate. Shihan Peat has full transference of the art developed by Chojun Myagi Sensei, the inventor of Goju Ryu, who was a senior student of Higoana Sensei.
Our training is authentic traditional Goju Ryu, we instil excellence in everything we do, inside and outside the dojo. We train hard, we train for purpose, Ikigai means reason for being! We train using traditional Goju Ryu tools like the Ishi Sashi, Chi Ishi, Makiagi Kigu, Makiwara, and we will train using Kongo Ken and Nigiri Game when we have them. This is as close to Okinawan training outside of Okinawa that you will find in the UK. Come and see for yourself with a free trial lesson. We also run self defence classes for children, teens, women etc as we are associated with TheSafetyBox protection program. Shihan Peat is also the head Olympic sports karate coach for the Jamaican Olympic team, and will train with you one on one in preparation for your tournaments.
