Alloa Karate Academy has a friendly atmosphere and everyone is welcome to come along who wishes to train, whether they are a beginner or returning to training after a break. All levels of ability are catered for each class with additional Instructors in class to support when required. Traditional Shotokan Budo Karate direct from Japan Karate Association is taught at this club. Members of the club have the opportunity to move through the belts regularly with a grading available every three months.
With over 40 years of history the club is very successful and with various opportunities to train at other clubs, direct with Japan HQ Instructors, attend various courses, Travel and take part in competitions. The Club is instructed by Jim Murray, 5th dan JKA (International Qualifications Instructor 'C', Referee 'C'; & Examiner 'C'), a former competitor with experience at international level including World Championships. A great deal of knowledge is brought back direct from Japan as Jim Murray attends Japan HQ yearly to train.
The Club is part of JKA Scotland, and affiliated with Japan Karate Association, Japan which is the largest most recognised Shotokan Karate Association in the World. Also registered direct with SKGB (Scottish Karate Governing Body) with Dan Grades ratified.
