Training karate has many benefits for both Health and well being, it promotes and teaches dedication, self control, self confidence, self discipline, fitness as well as being very enjoyable, fun and rewarding for individuals and families wanting to do something together.
The syllabus we teach, and the grades our students obtain, are internationally recognised, we do not teach so called "free style karate" and we place a great emphasis on the principals of traditional karate including etiquette and self-discipline.
In addition to learning to punch, block, kick and strike we cover a variety of other defences against attacks such as grabs. strangulation, attacks with weapons etc.
The club is named Kenshin Ryu which means school of dedication. This is Sensei Dans ethos in Karate.
The syllabus is laid down and governed by the Shukokai Karate Union est 1969 (SKU), which is part of WUKF.
The syllabus follows the traditional principals of karate with a particular emphasis on technique.
In addition to learning to punch, block, kick and strike we cover a variety of other defences against attack such as strangulation, attacks with weapons etc. Dan is qualified and an experienced instructor of self-defence.
Finally, in addition to the "serious" side of karate we have an active social calendar, there is a club BBQ, Childrens Christmas Party, Adults Christmas bash and annual summer training sessions in resorts abroard organised by the SKU.
