I attend with my 2 children and find the friendly atmosphere and quality of instructors excellent. The Saturday morning class is a great fun way to get exercise for all the family as well as equipping the children with life skills for the future eg. self confidence, discipline, self defence. I would highly recommend Kettering Tang Soo Do classes.

I would just like to recommend KTSDA to everyone. Environment wise, everyone at the club is friendly and professional. There are adults classes as well as family/children classes - so everyone is welcome and you are welcomed to train in any of the classes. You have students within the club wanting different things, some want to train for self-defence, others for the health benefits and some for both. Outside of training, there are social get togethers every so often, so you get to know the people you train with outside of the "class" environment.
The quality of tuition is top notch, I've trained in various martial arts & styles since the late 90's, and it is rare to find a club that blends the traditions from the past with the self-defence applications for today. From what I have seen, quality is demonstrated and concentrated on; this is shown in class and the gradings.
Financially... This club is non-profit and apart from purchasing your training suit or "Gi" (from wherever you want to), all the other costs are included in your monthly fee (this includes insurance fee, gradings, etc). However do not be put off by the low price, the saying "you get what you pay for" does not apply here. In my opinion, the value you get in return is so much more.
All in all, I am very pleased with the quality of the tuition, the wide range of techniques taught and the atmosphere. In my opinion, you couldn't find a better club.

This small and friendly club promotes the true values of a martial arts training. The traditional roots of Tang Soo Do are re-interpreted in ways that blend past and present influences to create techniques that can be used in self-defence in the real world.
excellent / professional

Kettering Tang Soo Do was exactly was I was looking for - small, welcoming and catering for all-comers alike. I had been looking for a club that was based on traditional martial arts but was not scary! KTSDA is relaxed but focussed and has a great all-round focus on traditional / formal techniques and practical applications.
I started classes with Kettering Tang Soo Do in Kettering about 6 months ago and love it. I go to the adult class on a Thursday evening. It's a small class, which is great as you get one-to-one tuition and everyone is really friendly. It's the first type of exercise I have done in a long time where I don't clock watch (I have been to the gym and done aerobic type classes in the past).
When I attended my first class I was unsure what to expect and was a little apprehensive I would have to spar and end up battered and bruised, but it is a non-competitive-class so I needn't have worried.
As the club is non-profit it also means the classes aren't expensive. It's free to try out a couple of classes and then £10 for the first 6 months (half price). Once you pay your monthly fee, that's it, there's no cost for testing and you can buy your Karate uniform (Gi) wherever you like. Mine was only £15 whereas for one of the alternative Martial arts classes I tried out you had to buy a specific Gi which was about £40.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who fancies trying something a bit different from the gym or standard exercise class.
