This school is probably the worst I have been too. They have no form or technique, and just rely on thuggery. They don't even train in clean gi, and wear sweaty tee-shirts. It is like they copied the stuff out of one of the old Steven Hayes Ninja books. I was looking for a proper ninjutsu dojo for ages, and this destroyed my faith in the art. The two instructors don't seem to know what they are doing, and it is nothing like the martial art you see on the Hatsumi DVDs.
In short, a fake school run by fakes. Look for Bujinkan, Genbukan or Jinenkan, or just do good Karate, Judo or Systema, but avoid these clowns.
I'm a long time student of kurohyo ninjutsu, although I don't remember seeing shinobi rick.
Are you sure you're talking about the right club?
That being said, he/she is correct that we aren't especially traditional.
Although we do practice the basic kata that you see in youtube videos, they're really only a starting point for beginners.
Our focus is more on learning practical self "defence" skills rather than sticking rigidly to a set way of moving which wont actually work.
So if you're more concerned with learning traditional patterns that don't go anywhere then go right ahead.
If you want to learn authentic fighting skills and build a genuine sense of belief in your own ability (and don't mind getting your gi dirty from time to time), then be my guest.
