I've been going to Sifu Carl's club for about 4 and a half years now and I find it very fun and thoroughly interesting. Sifu Carl is very friendly has has the utmost respect and shows great patience with his students, who have the same respect, maybe more, for him. The club has a great atmosphere and my fellow students are very friendly and we welcome the idea of a new person joining the club. I am currently a brown sash and Sifu Carl has taught me every step of the way. He has never given up on me and other students. He is very experienced with 25 years of knowledge in kung fu, which is shown in every lesson. He is also a great friend as he organises special occasions outside of the club, such as bike rides and Christmas dues. He also arranges 2 tournaments yearly, one in September and one in March, in which we compete for trophies and medals in fighting inter-club matches and performing our sets. I definitely recommend this club to anyone in Leicester who wants to learn Lau Gar kung fu properly and the right way, whilst also maintaining a good chatty atmosphere. I thank Sifu Carl for teaching me the art of Lau Gar and hope to keep to his standards in the forthcoming years.

My son has been going to this local club for just over a year now and with the help of the teacher (Carl Holyland 5th Degree Black Sash) expert training, my son has proudly progressed his martial arts skills to his blue sash.

Although my son attended training at Oadby (Walter Chares Center) classes, Carl also runs classes in Syston (St. Peter's & Paul's Church).

The group is very friendly and Carl’s has the necessary patience and knowledge to personalize the training to bring out the very latent best in each and every one his students irrespective of their starting point (or grade) -- as was my son.

Carls Kung Fu student age group spans from school student to mature adult - so everybody keen to learn is welcome. In terms of equipment, the school has all the necessary bits of essential kit to facilitate training.

I’d agree with the comments made elsewhere and from what I understand from my son, students are never made to look silly or embarrassed in training – we all make mistakes! I can positively say that the expert tuition from Carl has certainly increased my sons overall physical fitness, confidence and stamina.

In addition to the regular classes, Carl makes efforts to arrange yearly optional group matches and family friendly social outings, which are taken up by most of his students.

Finally, I would have no hesitation in recommending Carl Holyland’s school of Lau Gar Kung Fu training.

Fu club in Syston as me and my partner are both students at this club. Sifu Carl is a very good and patient instructor for people of different ages and fitness levels.

It's a club where you can have a laugh , build great friendships and work as hard as you want to build up your Martial Arts skills. Learning traditional Lau Gar Kung Fu, in a small friendly class. Whether your a beginner, or experienced higher grade, you will enjoy this club. With Carl Holyland 5th Degree Black Sash giving expert tuition, you are never made to look silly or feel embarrassed in class. Improving your physique and confidence each week, going from basic walk and single punch, to knife defence and kwans.

I have been going to club for approx 6 years and I love it, I recommend it to everyone who wants to keep fit and to learn how to defend themselves, plus it's fun and a really freindly group of people of all ages.
