Instruction in traditional Tani-Ha Shito ryu Karate & Olympic-style sports karate by 6th & 4th dan qualified sports coaches at the East Midlands Open Karate Academy EMOKAS - WKF World, EKF European, BKF British & Elite EKF English Referees. Affiliated to EKF the only WKF & IOC International Olympic Committee recognised National Governing body in England. Instruction by Gary Hoyle 6th dan Renshi Shito ryu 3rd dan JKA Shotokan. Traditional weaponry (Kobudo) - Sai, Bo, Tonfa, Jo & Iaito instruction. Club is run on a non-profit volunteer basis - no professional instructors but professional tuition - Gary referees on the world stage for Olympic qualification events WKF K1 Premier League & Serie A, Continental & WKF World Championships. Gary, Phil, Tracey & John all train regularly with the world renowned Shihan Tomiyama 9th dan Shito ryu / 6th dan Goju ryu - one of the best Shito ryu exponents/teachers in the world. Organise the hugely successful East Midlands Open Karate Championships each November with 45+ clubs from all over the UK contesting for bespoke medals in 100 Categories. Hosted by the magnificent RAF College Cranwell in Lincolnshire.

Programs & Class Schedule

We train on:
Thursdays & Fridays at:
Tesco Extra Store, Community Room, Park Rd, Loughborough LE11 2EX
5.15-10.00 pm - Just call in whilst shopping to enquire. Room at rear of store next to mobile phone dept.
Thursdays & Fridays:
Children 6 & over 5.20-6.40 pm - Beginners and refreshers welcome - Please arrive 5.00 pm to 5.15 pm. We can accommodate younger children 4 to 5yrs from 5.20 pm to 6 pm for mainly fun session whilst learning some karate skills.
Adults 6.45-8.15 pm - kyu grade session - Beginners and refreshers welcome
Advanced/dan grades 8.30-10.00 pm plus invites.
Separate classes cater for both adults and children.
Age 4 and up to 80 catered for. Younger students may be accommodated providing a parent or sibling trains alongside or parent remains outside the dojo for the session. Just bring loose clothing. Classes payable monthly by Standing Oder (NOT a direct debit) or pay per class (additional charge). Free membership. Family discounts available.
8.30 pm to 10.00 pm Open session for advanced students only- Please ring first. Senior grades from other styles wishing to learn WKF-style sport karate rules, kumite techniques & Kofukan/competition kata most welcome.
