most unprofessional service ever provided by a blackbelt instructor!

No!

Lack of communication or infact no communication..fullstop.. This instructor does not know how to communicate at all.

Do not pre- pay for private lessons.. I had paid upfrt the full amount. on one of my lesson days I drove an hour to get to the gym but the instructor was not there. I didn't receive a text or message to say lesson was cancelled...

Even afterwards no explanation as to why

Trying to get balance refunded by this school is proving otherwise difficult

Iv dipped my toes in different martial arts before and either been bored stiff by the un-interactive nature of teaching or cringed out by the massive egos dominating the arena. Its great to come into a gym and feel welcomed and at ease with everyone, you learn a lot more a lot quicker when you have rapport with the instructors and feel comfortable asking for feedback and advice, that is exactly what Jack offers at the Mad Hatters Asylum. There's no chest puffing or pea-cocking by the more experienced students and instructors but good technical advice, equipment and a vibe that everyone wants everyone else to progress and learn. I think The mad hatters asylum has got the perfect combination of atmosphere, teaching style and hard work to make any budding student of martial arts want to come back for more and most importantly improve!

I have trained MMA for a few years at various gyms and people always spoke of how good Jack is.

When I finally got to train with him it was apparent all that was said was true. A great humble guy and really knows how to get you going and het the best out if you. I improved more in the short time i trained at mad hatters more than anywhere else I had trained over the years. No egos, just slick grappling, banging stand up and great training.

Unfortunately i have not had a chance to train at Mad Hatters Asylum yet, but i know Jack as he sometimes comes over and teaches/participates in some of our classes and brings some of the lads with him, I can honestly say that they are a fantastic bunch of lads, very friendly and always willing to sit and help you out if needed

Jack is also a really good/high level instructor, with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and i know if any one were to train under him they could learn a lot.

I have known Jack since he got back from he's travels and whilst he was working in Whitstable.

I have trained at Mad Hatters as a visitor and can't wait to go back, Jack is a good teacher and the laid back class on a Friday night is great. It is a shame that the place is so far from me - I would be back much more!

I've been training in Brazilian jiu jitsu for nearly 4 years, I compete in mixed martial arts and train at GYM01. I met Jack Magee at Shock N Awe 12 where Jack was the main fight on the card. I was immediately impressed by Jack's attitude, I was supposed to be fighting one of his guys so we had a little chat. It's not often you find someone who is personable and highly skilled. I arranged to go down and train with Jack and have been back 5-6 times.. I recommend anyone go to train here if they are interested in improving their life.. Extremely friendly crowd and some of the best skill training you can get anywhere in the country.

I have lived and trained at martial arts schools across the uk and feel that the mad hatters for me is the best by far, jack Magee, head instructor has great experience and knowledge in all areas of martial arts and is very approachable, the gym is ego less which when sparring is important for me the advanced students take time to show me where I have made mistakes in certain techniques and the gym always has a good vibe. A key feature for me is also daytime lessons as I work most evenings. I live in Dover and because of this can't make classes as much as I would like but feel the drive is always worth it, people of New Romney you don't know how lucky you are to have the mad hatters on your doorstep!

Trained with jack and a few other mad hatters in Brazil and they were great lads. My go to closed guard break is a result of Jack's teaching and techniques. Highly suggest his tutelage.

A great gym that allows you to explore many elements of combat sport and martial arts. With the instruction and help you receive in and out of sessions its hard not to learn and feel part of the Mad Hatters family. They provide opportunities for those who wish to compete, which for me is extremely beneficial as a martial artist and there are not many gyms in the local area that can do this for their members in different elements of training whether it is: Jiu Jitsu, Thai boxing or MMA there are events year round. You will not find a member of the Mad Hatters team with an ego, which when first joining is extremely comforting and they will always look to help you within sessions so you gain as much as you can out of them. Out of the many gyms I have trained in around the area it is Mad Hatters where I finally feel at home. A clean, hygienic gym that allows people to find themselves and caters to peoples needs whether they are there to develop fitness, learn self defense or to compete. Highly recommend anybody to come down and try some classes, young, old, male, female there are classes to suit all.

The club is a fine example of professional coaching, Hard working students and a tough but fun environment.

I have been training at Mad Hatters for the past month and the skill level of even the lowest belts is top class.

As an older member I didn't feel intimidated and was made to feel part of the team. So long as you try your best you won't have any complaints.

We are so lucky to have such a great club / Coach in a remote coastal location.

Get your self along you wont be disappointed.
