It's swordfighting that was enough for me.
Really fun, nice atmosphere for studying a great martial art technically and with a good intensity. I've got far more out of this class than I'd ever have expected and ended up with a good foundation in both armed and unarmed fighting every bit as pragmatic as any other martial art. Though to be clear the syllabus of the class is entirely weapons focused.
Really good guys with a solid syllabus. I've trained with several martial arts clubs and indeed several HEMA clubs now and not only am I immensely grateful that there's a HEMA club in Northern Ireland at all but that one this good is nearby is incredible.
Not only the excellent instructors but many of the clubs members are skilled, knowledgeable and passionate.
For those new to martial arts to get a great foundation in footwork and structure to experienced martial artists wanting to add larger weapons or pragmatic fencing to their skillset I can't recommend highly enough. Whether it's an academic curiosity or you want to compete at any level in the ever expanding HEMA tournament scene Medieval Combat Group will have your back.
Almost marked the equipment question Very Good rather than Excellent since the club could do with mats but since that's no fault of the Instructors themselves i'll give them a perfect score. For me anyway they've absolutely earned it.
