Midlands Koryukan is an official branch dojo under the direct guidance and leadership of Patrick McCarthy Hanshi, 9th Dan, a genuine pioneer in the study of Karate-jutsu. Hanshi McCarthy is a man ho has revolutionised the way Karate is taught, emphasising kata application practices and two-person drills to enable real learning to happen within an enjoyable atmosphere.
Jeff Capstick Shidoin is the Chief Instructor of the Midlands Koryukan, and a student of Hanshi McCarthy, and he has been training in the martial arts since 1987. Shidoin Jeff is one of only a small handful of accredited teachers of Koryu Uchinadi in the United Kingdom meaning that you can be assured that you are receiving authentic training in Koryu Uchinadi, just like the masters of old. Jeff Capstick also has a degree in Sports Science, having studied anatomy and physiology, biomechanics and sports coaching methods, meaning that he has a unique blend and knowledge of both old and modern practices, allowing him to teach a classical tradition with a contemporary insight.
