At new Era Karate we teach a blend of goju and shotokan with perhaps more emphasis on the shotokan. In addition to the two styles previously mentioned, anything that is learnt from my on going training and development that i feel benefits a more modern and practical approach is taught. Therefore we are classed as a freestyle karate club. We are not restricted or governed by guidelines or people in other countries dictating what we can and can't teach, as a club we will continue to evolve without these restrictions. The club has a structure and a syllabus which has been approved by the BCKA (British Combat Karate Association). The club, instructors and students are all insured with the BCKA.
At New Era Karate we dont just punch and kick thin air we incorporate pads and shields into our training, you may even get thrown.
Whilst its not a keep fit club we do place a strong emphasis on fitness which is also incorporated into the karate training.
There is always a good vibe within the club with the senior students also teaching and helping the lower grades. Although the juniors and the seniors train at the same time they do get split but are taught in the same room which allows many parents to train at the same time as their children. Please note that we only take children from the age of 5 upwards. If your interested in starting karate or want to train with us in addition to your current club then please phone or email.
