Home of Gracie Barra Newcastle's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition team and the Origin Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) team. Beginners are welcome in all classes. BJJ and MMA classes are taught by Ian Malone, who holds a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Marc Walder. Wrestling classes are taught Commonwealth Games silver medallist Terrence Bosson.
The following Martial Arts Styles are offered at Origin BJJ Newcastle:
Monday – BJJ 7 pm
Tuesday – MMA Fundamentals 6 PM, BJJ Fundamentals 7 pm
Wednesday – No-Gi 6 pm, BJJ 7 pm
Thursday – BJJ Fundamentals 6 pm, BJJ Competition Class 7 pm
Friday – MMA 6 pm, Nogi 7 pm
Saturday – Kids BJJ 11 am, BJJ 12:00 pm, MMA 13:30 pm
Kids BJJ is aimed at ages 4-12. Mature teenagers are welcome in the adult classes. See the website for the Sunday schedule. The competition class is aimed at blue belts and above. Beginners are welcome at any of the other sessions, however we suggest they attend the fundamentals class first.
