Joining the reading academy is one of the best thing I have done. The team is very friendly and knowledgeable. The school is let by sifu Loukas with genuine wing chun lineage history. The teachers and senior students are very helpful. The trainings are practical and well structured. It is hard work but reward is great. It is open 5 days a week what is uncommon for similar type of school. This provide plenty of flexibility in busy times. Whole experience is far beyond just martial art.

Loukas is very intelligent, dignified and respectful teacher and this can be seen through his instructors who also help run the academy. The instructor staff all have their slightly different aspects on the teaching which gives me confidence that the purpose of Wing chun is about promoting self development through the practice of the martial art and it’s teachings.
Great students to learn alongside and would thoroughly recommend this school. But be prepared to step up, get involved and show commitment as this has been the best way to learn the system, as I have found!

Hi All, Just like you I found my way to this website amongst others trying to find the best school I could find to start training. I was looking for quite a while before I stumbled across this school, Reading Academy of Wing Chun and Kali. It's a well established school too and been in Reading since about 1992. ..
The sifu in there trained in the basement with Nino Bernardo and Wong, enough said!
I was pleasantly surprised by the way this school teaches/shows you the way. ...
All I can say is if you want a quality school, not with all the blind fancyness of others, but a real school/Kwoon, them look no further.
Best of all, you can also do Kali there too.
Recommended 200%+++
PS I've been around a while, so know what a good school looks like, this is one!

It's surprising that this school is still operating. There are several reasons you might want to avoid it:
1. **High Costs:** The fees are extremely high, and beyond the regular payments, you're often pressured into attending additional seminars and purchasing supplementary materials like DVDs, t-shirts, and books. The seminars, which should offer value, often feel like a waste of time as a large portion is spent on unrelated stories and humor.
2. **Unprofessional Behavior:** The instructor displays questionable behavior, including physically aggressive actions during sessions to demonstrate superiority. He seems to lack the recognition he claims and often engages in negative mind games, which can be quite discouraging.
3. **Incomplete Training:** The instructor has reportedly not completed his training with his own teacher, Sifu Nino Bernardo. This can raise questions about the depth of his expertise.
4. **High Student Turnover:** Many of the senior students have left the school, and not on good terms. The primary reason seems to be a focus on financial gain rather than genuine teaching.
In summary, it may be worth considering alternative schools that provide better value and a more positive learning environment.
