The Saxon Karate Club is a traditional Shotokan karate club based throughout West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester & Lancashire, although the club also extends to Wales and many countries Worldwide.
Founded in 1981, Saxon Karate is one of the most famous karate clubs in the world. Saxon students have taken UK, European and world honors but still retain a family club atmosphere wherever they train. At present, the club boasts over 100 brown and black belts, men, women and children, on its register. Many of these are top quality instructors in their own right.
Saxon is headed by Sensei Leigh Smith, a highly respected 7th Dan black belt with over 40 years of experience. He has professionally taught presidential and celebrity bodyguards and security forces worldwide. He is recognized and recommended by the Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire police divisions. In 2012 Sensei Leigh became 'Coach of the Year' of Greater Manchester.
