Seiken Ryu provides an excellent place to learn Shitō-Ryū style karate in an innovative blend between traditional style martial arts and modern biomechanics.

All three instructors are extremely knowledgable but also friendly and approachable. Each has their own speciality and utilise this fact to tailor the delivery of lessons to meet the needs of all of the students.

The content of the lessons is provided in such a way that it is accessable to both children and adults, which is good as several of adult students who go to the class started after bringing their kids and deciding to join in themselves after watching a few lessons.

If you are looking to study a traditional Martial Art, get fit, or simply meet some lovely people, Seiken Ryu Karate is an excellent choice.

A family feel club, but with the knowledge and expertise that is unrivalled.

Trained on a Sunday, a lot more as a young teenager, to prepare me for the more senior grades and for sparing with people of my own size and age. The class continues to be informative but also very enjoyable.

There is something very special at the Ebchester class. The three instructors are professional, dedicated, encouraging and offer great feedback to the class, but there is something else. They genuinely care about each and every student and seem to know what it takes to motivate each one.

Offering the class in person is excellent, but for those of us who cannot attend in person, they also run the class via zoom which is such a brilliant option (I live 75 minutes away from Ebchester). The classes tend to be working towards a dan grading so the tempo is frequently fast, but there is always one person who has an eye open for anyone struggling and extra guidance is offered when required.

The students who attend are normally either preparing for a dan grading or already a blackbelt. This means the level of instruction is high.

I can't think of anything I'd rather do on a Sunday morning.

Attending this class has been crucial to preparing for senior karate gradings for myself and my children and 3 of us are now black belts. Instructors here are experts who somehow manage to strike a great balance between making karate accessible to skilled primary aged children and supporting adults who are very serious about progressing their karate skills.

The instructors have a real sense of fun which shines through even when they are making you work harder than you thought possible. Our family has come for the karate and stayed for the friendship and support.

I'm training for my 1st Dan and the 3 instructors are amazing, very helpful and knowledgeable. They give both individual and general feedback, and great support to all the students. My level of preparation and confidence have really improved since I joined the class and I will continue to attend in the future.
