Such a warm, friendly environment that will challenge you, asks questions of you and teach you points at your body and you as a person of which you were not aware. With a range of students from small children, to grown adults it could not be more inclusive if it tried.

I have been a practioner of Shorinji Kempo for nine years. I started training when I was at secondary school at the age of 15 and was looking for a Martial Art that provided me with effective self defence, discipline and physical fitness - Shorinji Kempo ticked all the boxes.
I've been training at the Sway Dojo since 2008 and have also trained at The Gregg School Dojo. All classes have a mixture of ages and abilities and everyone has the opportunity to train with people they wouldn't normally train with and we frequently get new members wanting to join. The knowledge of the senior grades is excellent and the teaching is second to none.
Highly recommended - come and see for yourself.
Fun, realistic and extremely useful!

A fantastic environment for people of all ages. It's very enjoyable but plenty challenging and serious when it's needs to be. Lots of team games, physical exercise, philosophy (how to treat others and self cultivation). I've been practising shorinji Kenpo for over 10 years now and it has allowed me to become a much better, brighter and more confident individual who feels very comfortable working with others in any situation. Advice is always on hand from instructors about practise during sessions but also any area of life that you would like to talk about. For example bullies at school or work, diet and exercise advice and even how to just live more harmoniously with our surrounding environment. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions but please leave your ego and politics at the door.
Half for yourself, half for others.

The training sessions for me are like having someone open the valve on a pressure cooker. No matter how upset/angry/sad/depressed/stressed I am going into the session I always come out feeling better. I feel this is due to the change of pace and focus placed on the training in the moment rather than letting your training be influenced by what is going on outside the dojo. Thoroughly enjoy the mixture of laughter and hard work put in each time.
Very welcoming and great for all ages!

I have been training with this teacher for 10 years and i have seen all ages and skill types attend, i would highly recommend this dojo; while attending this martial art you will find yourself growing as a person and as a benificial part of society through exercise, philosophical teachings and of course the martial art that is Shorinji Kempo.
We currently have a regular attendance of around 20 children in our Saturday class who are always keen to learn and improve who they are and what they know. I personally started in year 8 of secondary school and have never found a reason to give up Shorinji Kempo and i hope you will find it as engaging as I and our other students find it.

I have been training Shorinji Kempo for about 11 years at other clubs as well as this one but this has been the best style of training that has worked well for me and my children.
My children are 7 with aspergers and 15 who train with me on Saturdays in the childrens session. Our experience has been very good and the instructor is very good at getting the best out of children.
If you're looking for a good all round self defence based martial art with a good philosophy and an aspiration to build a better world, then I would ask you to give this dojo a go.

Fun to attend, the fun and humour disguise the discipline and focus of all involved.
I have been going to kempo since I was 2, which was 11 years ago. Self defence feels like one big family because everyone is kind, friendly and we all get along really well. I really enjoy self defence a lot so does my brothers and sisters. We hope more people will come and join our group!
