Shoto-Shin Karate Academy is a Birmingham based martial arts club for people of all ages and abilities who are willing to train hard and develop themselves to improve in areas such as self confidence, self control, discipline, flexibility, focus, fitness, self defense and respect. We believe if you train hard, you'll not only be hard, you'll be hard to beat! We have been in Handsworth for 12 years and have an excellent reputation in the area.
Our syllabus is based upon the teachings of Kyokushinkai Karate, with this, Shoto-Shin offers full contact knockdown karate, kick boxing and also point sparring.
Sensei Phil Harris is the chief instructor and founder of Shoto-Shin, he is a 3rd Degree black belt who has had his 3rd Dan registered into the records of both WUKO and WUKF. He has over 16 years of experience studying Kyokushin Karate and Kickboxing and has been based in the Handsworth area since he began training.
The academy is also affiliated to the Federation Of English Karate Organisations (FEKO), our students are given the opportunity to train with other students from clubs all around the west midlands whom are also affliated with FEKO. FEKO training sessions are run by members of the FEKO National Squad.
