Shugyou has classes for all ages and abilities. Having been with the club since it started it has grown into a supportive and friendly place to train. Whether you just want to get a bit fitter, learn to defend yourself or train in Shotokan karate this is definitely the place for you. Excellent instruction and students of all ages and abilities to help on your karate journey. Fantastic value for money.

I have been taking my 5 year old son to the Dojo for the last 18 months. He started in Ninja Warriors and has progressed to such an extent in a short period of time that he is now in full classes twice weekly. This is due to the excellent tuition of Sensei Nick Broadbent who brings a sense of fun but is also strict with his pupils which all leads to a class that has brought both discipline and self control to my son Ethan.

Great place for all the family its fun and has a great instructor.

I brought my kids to shugyou a few months ago to start at ninja worriers they love the classes its fun while learning basic moves and learning to listen to sensei. They are now moving on to the beginners class which I am sure they will enjoy. There are classes that cater for all and sensei encourages you to enjoy in. Best place I have taken my kids. Would highly recommend everyone come along and try one of there classes.

Plenty of classes catering from little kids all the way up. Enjoyable atmosphere and well rounded classes allowing students to find the right ones whether they just want to do more interesting fitness or are very serious about Karate. Sensei Nick is constantly being trained and training himself so everything is kept fresh. I find Karate a great way to switch off after work and Sensei keeps me on my toes pointing out the next step in the evolution of the techniques that I'm working on. It's good to train with the kids too and it gives us something to work on together at home. There are lots of Karate styles, some of which we've experienced through comps, seminars and previous associations, Shotokan suits me very well.

Shugyou Karate Do really is a great place to be involved in. I started off doing some of the classes for exercise and I am now hooked. Sensei Nick and everyone in the club are friendly and welcoming of anyone, no matter what level you are at. I am a complete beginner and started by doing some of the classes just for exercise and fitness, through the support and encouragement of Sensei and other members I am now joining in the Karate classes and have just paid up to become a member! The daytime child friendly classes are amazing too, I can take my kids with me whilst I work out, and where else can you do that! I would recommend this place to everyone. Although be warned, once you start you might be hooked for life!!

After trying various other dojos in Calderdale for my son I came across shugyou karate do on facebook and brought my son (7 years old )down for the weeks free trial. After his first session he was hooked and wanted to come every day. After his first month and seeing how good the sensei was with his students and the variety of the classes I too joined and became a member, as has my daughter now (16 years old ). I highly recommend shugyou karate do to everyone.

As an experienced martial arts student, I have been impressed by the way the instructor makes everyone feel welcome and can give you personal feedback for your own progress. My 3 year old has started at the ninja class and grown so much in confidence, that she is a different child. She learns the importance of listening to others and following rules in a fun and exciting environment. It really is more of a family.

My girls have been going to this club since they started in ninjas 2 years ago, they loved the relaxed atmosphere and Sensai Nick. The oldest 2 have now joined beginners classes with their dad and the transition from ninjas to beginners was a smooth one as they already knew what was expected. I love the welcoming atmosphere and the girls love to train. I can't recommend Shugyou Karate Do enough.

The reason this place is so special and people stay for years is because Sensei Nick lives and breathes karate. If you show your commitment and enthusiasm to learn, he will match it and more. I have had a major health set back this year and Sensei Nick has been there to help me keep up with some training during recovery. This has been so important to me.

A friendly well run dojo for the beginner to expert, there's a class for all experience. Quality teaching, value for money. Also has a few champions at national level so they've obviously proved themselves in quite a few tournaments. A+

Well run classes to suit all ages and abilities. Open 7 days always something going on, 5 months ago I'd never thought I'd have been in a dojo, the hardest thing I did was walk in the door, now feel like a community, great bunch of people, great Sensei, like I said right man for the job, come and see why!

Having studied Martial Arts (specifically Tang-soo-do) in my youth with one of the top instructors in the style that i studied i was unsure as most students are when first starting a new style. I was pleased when i visited Shugyou over two years ago with my now step daughter as to how well this club performs under Sensei Broadbent that i've not looked back since. I've learned alot these past 2 years and the club continues to evolve and improve. With a dedicated tournament squad and classes for virtually any ability, you will find a home here.

First came across the dojo when my kids attended ninja's they loved the fun environment and classes with Sensai Nick and they have now graduated to the full classes and after watching them take part at the grand old age of 30 I joined myself. Great supportive environment where anyone of any age, or level of experience is made to feel welcome whether it's for full training or fitness you won't regret giving it a go!

The Shugyou dojo is very well equipped with full matted out floor. Bag area etc. There are a range of classes available for all ages and heights including childrens classes, adult only and female only self defence classes as well as private tuition if you want to take your training to a higher level. Whichever class you choose you are sure of a warm welcome from Nick sensei who is fully insured and registered instructor under BSKI.

Shugyou Karate has been the best martial art club my child has attended for the last 4 years. Not only is everyone made to feel very welcome, the standard of teaching is excellent, This is why my daughter loves to attend here. Since joining this club after being a member of others she has gone along to win numerous tournaments across the country. I would highly recommend the club to people of all ages.
