Did you really review your own academy and give it full marks?

Response to poor review by Gaz

I am very surprised to read of Gaz’s review but I suppose it is only to be expected as he was asked to leave Fight Fortress due to his appalling and cowardly behaviour. We treat all our students with respect and expect the same in return. Gaz’s claim to have trained with us for five years is all the more surprising in that he didn’t know if he was being taught Karate or Kickboxing. Did it take him all that time to still be confused? Man, that is some kind of stupid. We are a multi disciplined, award winning academy, run by professionals with a collective 50 years experience in Martial Arts, graded by Geoff Thompson, Peter Consterdine and Alfie Lewis. Gaz couldn’t cut the cloth, it is that simple. Moving forward, we welcome new students into the first official Krav Maga club in. North Wales, offering both open and private classes. If anybody would like to speak to me in person, with any questions or issues, please feel free to contact me.

Rubbish. ..I don't really know if it's kickboxing or Karate i was being taught.
I am an ex student (thankfully).
The Krav maga that is taught is very poor and very basic, students are not tested on their Krav Maga skills whilst under duress.
The fees are mega expensive too. This dojo is all about the money and the instructors EGO.
Find somewhere decent to try
As a peer who also runs a martial arts academy in North Wales, I'm professionally embarrassed with your response to the negative review. The fact that you reviewed your own academy and gave it full marks suggests to anyone reading it that the reviewers allegation of narcissism is true. It is grossly unfair on your peers that you consider it OK to review your own academy, as such I have chosen to counter your full marks with no marks so that customers will not be mislead when looking to choosing an academy.
I had a quick scan of your site and reviews and will offer the following advice.
Don't get your family members to leave you perfect reviews on google, customers aren't stupid.
Engage with your reviewers, a simple thank you for a positive review works, if you get a bad review, take it on the chin, you've probably had worse things happen to you. Engage with them, "I'm sorry you had a bad experience, I'm always up for making things better, I'd be grateful if we could continue this discussion via private message" or something like that. They are not coming back to give any more of their money, but someone else might because they saw you cared about a customers negative experience.
Back up your USP with facts/reference. 'Award winning academy', 'Award winning author'?
Rely on your good reviews to counter the bad. If you don't have many good reviews there is probably a reason, work out what you need to change to get good reviews.
