The Southampton University Shaolin Temple Kung Fu club has been giving people access to authentic Shaolin Kung Fu as taught in the temple itself and the surrounding area for many years. Instructors include Shifu Yan Xin, a 34th generation Shaolin master and a number of his most experienced students, each with many years of training in Shaolin Kung Fu. The club holds membership of the British Council of Chinese Martial Arts- www.bccma.com
Training in Shaolin Kung Fu is not only of use in self-defence but offers great health benefits through increased fitness, flexibility and strength. It has a history of over 1500 years and encompasses many styles of unarmed, weapon and animal forms, as well as grappling, Chinese kick boxing, body conditioning and acrobatics. This broad syllabus and long tradition set Shaolin Kung Fu apart from many other martial arts systems. We make use of traditional and modern training methods, to ensure safe and balanced development.
Although based at the University of Southampton the club is open to anyone who wishes to attend, student or otherwise. Check out our website for more information: www.shaolin.susu.org
