Thornton Cleveleys Taekwon-Do School
The only TKD school in Wyre practising original Taekwon-Do (ITF Chang Hon) as devised by its founder General Choi who gave Taekwon-Do its name. Run by former BUTF founding instructor and triple gold medal winner. Original black belt, instructor and umpire certificates gained under Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha IX who brought TKD to the UK in the 1960's. 30 years black belt experience, and with former students who have achieved ITF 6th Dans. Fully insured and CRB/DBS checked with qualifications in Paediatric First Aid, Child Safeguarding, and Child Protection (L1). Also Mindfulness, NLP and CBT certified.

What Makes Us Different
1. We teach the original form of Taekwon-Do for students from the age of 4 upwards.
2. It's not easy. You will only pass a grading if your standard warrants it - we will work with you to achieve and exceed that standard.
3. We want you to be as serious about learning as we are about teaching. It's why we are called a school and not a club. Commitment means there is no pay as you go option. Gentle exercise or extreme stamina - prepare to surprise yourself - we will max your ability.
4. We do a lot of mental training too - this can have many positive effects on your work and personal relationships - please see our reviews.
5. We are a non-profit school focusing on high quality, professional teaching to a small group.

Classes - Wednesdays and Sundays:
Wednesdays: St Andrews Church Cleveleys.
TCTKD Lil Dragons (age approx 4 - 6) 5.30 pm - 6.10 pm. Fun/Basic TKD/Educational.
Main Class (from approx age 7/Teenagers/Adults) ITF TKD syllabus 6.00 pm - 6.45 pm
Sundays: Main Studio, Starlight Stage School, Redmarsh Industrial Estate, Holly Road, Thornton.
TCTKD Lil Dragons (age approx 4 - 6) 10.00 - 10.45 am. Fun/Basic TKD/Educational.
Main class 10.30 - 11.30 (from age 7/Teenagers/Adults)
(Stamina/Strength/Patterns/Sparring/Breaking).
Class Options:
1. Lil Dragons - Now Underway for 4-6 year olds! (approx). See your child develop confidence, new friendships, teamwork skills and more.
Taekwon-Do Foundation based on Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit.
Basic Taekwon-Do techniques including kicks, punches, blocks, destruction.
Fun warm-ups developing motor skills, balance, speed, stamina, power, breathing, posture.
Academic development including cognitive ability, basic spelling and counting.
Life skills development including mindfullness, health and safety.
Grading system based on belt progression. Homework!
2. Belt Syllabus - Follow our traditional belt syllabus with the aim of achieving the coveted Black Belt after about 4 years (based on training twice weekly and minimum 75% attendance). Includes patterns, sparring, theory, destruction.
3. TKD Fitness - Train for strength, stamina and flexibility, and learn how to develop explosive kicking and punching techniques. Phenomenal calorie burn rate. No need to grade. No need to follow syllabus.

If you are simply looking for the cheapest facility we won't be right for you. (Unfortunately we also don't have a pay-as-you-go scheme as all tuition is paid for in advance by standing order). If, however, you are looking for very high quality coaching at a school where the instructor has never been late or missed a session we would suggest coming to watch or try out a class free. This is what local councillor Andrea Kay did and what prompted her to subsequently give us a glowing testimonial.
We work in partnership with committed local parents who are looking to invest in their child's well-being and development, both mentally and physically. This frequently results in students doing well at school and we have an excellent track record of students replicating this success in university and beyond too.
