The Wing Chun School Forest Gate is based in East London within walking distance of Forest Gate National Rail and Wanstead Park Overground stations. At The Wing Chun School Forest Gate our instructors are not only students of Wing Chun but also of combat. We bring the reality of the streets into our ‘laboratory’ and ensure our students can apply their Wing Chun in self defence situations.
We provide a comprehensive curriculum consiting of three hand forms, Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu and Biu Tze.There is also a wooden dummy form and two weapon forms, The ‘Eight Chopping’ knives and Long Pole. The forms contain a wealth of knowledge about the system however, Wing Chun is not just a method of applying techniques, more so, it’s a way of thinking and expression. We encourage students to understand the ‘how’, ‘what’ and ‘why’ of the techniques – How the technique is to be executed, paying attention to the structure, energy, and movement, what the technique is for and how it is combined with other techniques and why you would execute a certain technique over others within your ‘toolset’.
Sifu David Boungnang runs The Wing Chun School Forest Gate branch. At 19 years of age David was the youngest person to have completed the four gradings (Core Syllabus). David has been involved with various demonstrations in Hong Kong (2nd World Wing Chun Conference), China, Norway, and many places throughout the UK. These demonstrations sole purpose has been to consistently promote the art for Self-Defence and not for entertainment purposes.
