The Practical Karate Association is part of the British Combat Karate Association (BCKA) with English Karate Federation (EKF) membership and recognition and teaches DART Karate and Shotokan Karate. We run self defence and fitness orientated karate classes at Wycombe Leisure Centre, Wycombe Judo Centre, and Sprinters Leisure Centre in Prestwood.
Shotokan Karate is a Japanese karate system founded in the early Twentieth century. It is known for its deep stances, fluid movement, powerful techniques and physical development.
DART Karate is a practical karate system focused on self defence. It is known for its close range tactics, non linear approach, limb manipulation, soft blocking, powerful strikes, legal underpinning and pressure testing scenario training.
Chief instructor John Titchen is well known internationally as a karate and self defence instructor and writer.
