I joined as a senior with over 10 years' experience.
Sensei Sam Nelstrop (2nd Dan) is very knowledgeable. He has a warm and friendly approach with both the adult and children's classes, with a good, engaging, way with children. He has a real and authentic understanding of Japanese culture, which is often important to those interested in Karate.
Another important area which Sensei Sam is very good in is the application of the various techniques. His experience of GoJu Ryu, GoJu Kai, and Kyokushinkai shows through, and this is another good reason to join. I will definitely be sticking around at this club!
Whether you are a beginner, experienced, passionate about Martial Arts, or just want to get fit, I would recommend this class.
I’ve tried a few martial arts over the years and never really found anything that held my interest for very long. I started here 6 months ago and was pretty much hooked from the first session. Sensei Sam Nelstrop is a great instructor, friendly, approachable and very patient. As importantly his passion for Goju-ryu shines through in every session. If you want to learn a traditional style of karate in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, I would whole heartedly recommend it.
