Kendo is the Japanese Way of the Sword. In modern times we use shinai which is made of Bamboo and wear armour for protection.
Essentially Kendo is based on duelling from the Samurai era of Japan. So a lot emphasis is placed on etiquette. Nowadays the art is used as a way to build character, and is NOT a self defence system. Please visit our website and search on YouTube for more information.
The Dojo is led by Douglas Barr, who currently holds Sandan (3rd Dan) level.
The instructors are fully qualified and insured through the British Kendo Association, and Inverness Kendo Club is a fully registered member Dojo of the British Kendo Association.
