Pennywell Honto Shin Karate Club
At Pennywell Honto Shin Karate Club, we offer superb quality teaching in the precision art of Shotokan Karate. Established since 1983, based in Pennywell Community Centre, Sunderland.
Chief instructor Sensei Liz Fraser, 6th Dan and Sensei Andy Nesbitt, 4th Dan run the dojo with classes for both children and adults, offering anyone the chance to begin learning karate or to carry on their previous training.
Both instructors have a wealth of experience in teaching as well as having multiple successes in competition, winning many local and national titles. We also have several other long serving black belt members who help with the running of the club.

Programs & Class Schedule
If you’d like to give karate a try or continue previous training, simply come along to one of our lessons and give us a try. Anyone from age 6 can join.
No special equipment or kit is needed to train, simply turn up in comfortable clothing around 10-15 minutes before the lesson begins and introduce yourself to one of our friendly black belts who will be happy to answer any questions you may have and point you in the right direction.
There are no joining fees, you pay for the lessons as you train at £2.00 per session. After your first month of training, if you find you are enjoying lessons and wish to carry on, you will then need to purchase karate suit and a license.
Licenses are £12.50 for adults & £10.50 for juniors and is renewable on a yearly basis.
