Shugyou Karate do is a Shotokan karate club affiliated to the British Shotokan Kyogi under the guidance of Chief instructor Charles Gidley Sensei(8th dan). JSKA-GB and Amateur Martial Association
The club run classes 7 days a week under the instruction of Sensei Nick Broadbent, from Ninja warriors(ages 3 to 6 year old) traditional Shotokan karate classes, tabata fitness sessions, street defence sessions
Shugyou meaning the way of life was founded in Halifax in May 2011 after teaching at numerous locations throughout Halifax we moved into our permanent full time kitted out dojo in March 2013.
2014 saw the club achieve there first World Champion Ali Khan in kumite points fighting.
and double UK Open champions Megan Reynolds and Ellie Collins, although 2015 has been quiet on the tournament front the team of 12 recently entered 2 national tournaments bringing home a total of 5 trophies and 15 medals. February 2016 saw a small team enter the AMA International tournament in Sheffield where we witnessed Dave Holdsworth come away with Gold in kumite, Further tournaments already planned are BSKI Invitational in June, AMA Open in Bury in September, 13 hotel rooms booked for a trip up to Glasgow in September for the JSKA Scottish Open then in October we have the BSKI Nationals, if you would like to find out more about tournaments please get in touch via this page or visit the website www.shugyoukarate.co.uk
